چکیده

Mining nonmetallic sand, gravel, and river stones in a channel has previously caused damage to the itself surrounding environment. Technical studies are needed minimize mining channel. Ongkag Dumoga River is planned be location of non-metal material for gravel stone. The research method was carried out by geodesic mapping determine profile cross-section, hydrological analysis with return period 25, 50, 100 years hydraulic on flow along 600 m. design post-mining technical improve capacity existing cross-section. Changes potential volume form that become sediment. results flood discharge HSS-Snyder get 1249.1692 m³ / s at 100-year return, 1178.8064 50-year period, 1104.2372 25-year period. simulated shows overflow during 50 floods. new cross-section will use economic trapezium profiles calculated excavation 88,347.42 m³.

Experimental study on appropriate location of river material mining pits regarding extraction and utilization

River bed sand and gravel are utilized more than mountain materials due to their availability and closeness to the transit roads and sites of usage. Excessive and non-technical extraction of gravel and sand bring a kind of interference in them, leading to many negative consequences. Therefore, presenting solutions to reduce these impacts and infilling mining pits are essential. In this researc...

Impacts of reforestation and gravel mining on the Malnant River, Haute-Savoie, French Alps

The Malnant River is a rapidly incising river with a French name that translates as ‘‘bad creek,’’ reflecting local opinion of the hazards from dramatic channel changes that have occurred in the last few centuries. Downcutting in the last three decades has created severe problems for farmers in this small watershed (16 km) as bridges are undermined, streamside roads are threatened, and irrigati...

A new sampler for extracting bed material sediment from sand and gravel beds in navigable rivers

Grain-size distributions of bed material sediment in large alluvial rivers are required in various scientific and management applications, but characterizing gravel beds in navigable rivers is hampered by difficulties in sediment extraction. The newly developed and preliminarily tested sampler reported here can extract sediment from a range of riverbeds. The 36 × 23 × 28 cm stainless steel toot...

Urolithiasis on non-absorbable suture material: a rare case of bladder stone on polypropylene suture material.

I read the article by Mannan et al with great interest.(1) The authors have presented several interesting cases from Pakistan regarding foreign bodies in the bladder, which is a significant contribution to the literature. However, there were no cases of polypyroplene suture encrustation in bladder in the series. We would like to report a rare case from Turkey, in which a bladder stone was forme...
